Charles Barthold has been appointed editor-in-chief and VP, editorial content of PhotoChannel Inc, the U.S. subsidiary of Vancouver-based PhotoChannel Networks Inc. Barthold will be responsible for all content and community features of the PhotoChannel site. He brings over 20 years of editorial experience in the magazine, newspaper and Internet publishing businesses. Most recently, he was GM, content and production, for Sticky Networks. Prior to that, he was VP of Space.com of New York NY, and has experience at publications of Times Mirror Magazines including editor-in-chief of Yachting Magazine. Cable in the Classroom has appointed Jean Perras as executive director of the organization with a mandate to create stronger ties between the cableco initiative and Canadian school boards. Perras joins the organization from Learning for a Sustainable Future, where he served as executive director. He has also been a senior consultant for groups including the Canadian International Development Agency, the International Cooperation for Development and Solidarity, the United Nations Development Program, and Radio Québec. He is currently municipal councillor and deputy mayor of Chelsea QC. Greg Warren has left his position as executive director for the Centre for Innovation Law and Policy at the University of Toronto faculty of law. He is departing to become a principal of a small semiconductor technology company called Snobush Inc based in Toronto started by two U of T engineering professors. His resignation was effective August 25. IMagicTV, St. John NB, has appointed Marjean Henderson as VP and CFO. She brings close to 15 years of experience as CFO in the areas of entertainment and technology, including her previous appointment as senior VP and CFO at Nucentrix Broadband Networks Inc, Plano TX. She also counts 11 years as a senior accounting and audit manager at Arthur Andersen & Co. Paul Forostowsky has accepted a position as president of Cognicase Inc’s Internet and wireless technologies group. He has previous experience as president and CEO of several IT companies in Europe. Toronto-based ATI Technologies continues to search for a CFO in the wake of James Chwartacky’s resignation. He was with the company for three years, and has left to pursue other interests. Heather Clark is now editor of Industry Canada’s Strategis Headlines. Formerly with the department’s Canadian Intellectual Property Office, she replaces Kristina Fickes. Sudbury native Sean Brushett has been appointed VP of marketing at Thomcast Communications Inc, a supplier of microwave transmitting equipment. Brushett will develop and drive the marketing strategy for both Thomcast’s core technologies, operations and new initiatives. Most recently he served as senior marketing manager/director of marketing for Cox Communications in New Orleans. QR Capital, the money behind GotAHit.com has announced several new directors and a president. Leontis Teryazos takes over as top executive. He has a financial background in telecom, technology and healthcare. Marc Beaudet, a software development project manager, Jacques Frenette, a publishing industry insider, and Geoffrey Scales, currently a principal partner of Associate Venture Capital, have all joined the board of directors. NevadaBobs.com, Toronto, ecom provider to the Nevada Bobs chain of golf stores, has appointed Kevin Baker as president and CEO. He has also taken a seat on the company’s board of directors. He replaces Arnold Kondrat, who has been appointed chair of the board. Kerry Adler, co-founder and president of Toronto-based Webhelp, has won the Global Young Entrepreneurs Award 2000 at the Seventh World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs. Adler launched Webhelp.com nine months ago and secured a roster of notable clients. He has also spearheaded the company’s global expansion into the Francophone market.
