Patricia Bowles is the new EVP communications for Telus. She has prior experience in public relations, marketing, public affairs and government relations. Theresa Muir, formerly director of regulatory matters at Bell Canada has joined AT&T Canada as VP of regulatory. Brock Robertson has left his position as VP treasury and investor relations at Call-Net Enterprises Inc to take on a similar role as senior VP treasury and investor relations at AT&T Canada. Sheridan Scott, chief regulatory officer at Bell Canada, has been appointed chair of the Internet Content Rating Association. The non-profit group works with Internet content providers to develop a filtering and labeling system that can be used by parents to protect their children from potentially harmful material on the Internet. Scott was previously a member of the Finance and Compensation Committee and has been representing Bell Canada on the ICRA board of directors since the company became a member of ICRA in September 1999. Calgary’s Zi Corp has made two changes at the top levels. Gary Kovacs is promoted from senior VP marketing and sales to president and George Tai moves from senior VP, general counsel to become COO. 01 Communique Laboratory Inc has named Kerry Munro VP marketing. He previously worked at AT&T Canada as director of wireless and LD marketing and product development. He is also an alumnus of Bell Canada. Brant Scott, chief writer/editor telecommunications in the CRTC’s decisions division, is leaving his post Nov. 10 to become a senior consultant with National Public Relations in Ottawa. Scott got his start as a telecom journalist in 1994 as editor of Network Letter, a position he held for five years.
