Pasteur Ntake has joined Unique Broadband Systems Inc. as VP engineering. Prior to joining UBS, Ntake was with SierraCom, which sold some of its assets to UBS (RoW Update, July 15/02). He has more than 25 years experience in radio communications, having held positions at Harris Corp. and Nortel Networks Corp. Unity Wireless Corp. has appointed Brian Nixon and Doron Nevo to its board of directors. Both men bring more than 20 years experience to the company’s board. Nixon has also been named non-executive vice-chair of the board. He was most recently senior VP business solutions of BCE Media Inc. Nevo is currently president and CEO of KiloLambda Technologies Ltd. Andrew Cameron has been named parliamentary relations officer at the CRTC, charged with communications of commission policies, decisions and activities with federal politicians. Prior to this appointment, he was manager of government relations at the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. Infowave Software Inc., has appointed Bill Tam as executive VP of sales and marketing. He will also be a part of the recently formed Office of the President, where he will be responsible for all sales, business development and marketing initiatives (RoW, April 30/02). With more than 14 years experience in the telecommunications industry, he brings significant experience to the table. He has previously worked for AT&T Canada, Rogers Communications Inc. and Bell Canada. Additionally, David Neale has resigned from Infowave’s board of directors. Avaya Inc. has named Susan Bailey VP North American sales where she will lead a team of 1,300 direct sales and sales support staff as well as an additional 1,300 indirect Avaya channel partners in Canada and the United States. Bailey brings 20 years of sales, marketing and management experience to Avaya having worked at IBM Corp. among other firms. Danny Osadca has joined Dyband Corp.’s board of directors. Dyband provides IP traffic management software for last mile connectivity markets such as satellite, wireless and others. Osadca has more than 25 years of experience, most notably as CEO of DY4 Systems. Nortel Networks Corp. has promoted Douglas Beatty to CFO, effective immediately. He has been the company’s controller since 1999, responsible for all external and management reporting requirements. Federal Communications Commission chair Michael Powell began his second term as chair on July 1. His second term will expire on June 30, 2007. Broadband wireless service provider OA Group Inc. has announced the resignation of Jose Rueda from its board of directors. SAMSys Technologies Inc. has appointed David Armstrong and William McClean to the company’s board of directors. Armstrong is senior VP and global director of RFID at BTG plc. He has been with the company since 1990. McClean is VP manufacturing, development and marketing operations of IBM Canada. He is past chair of the board of directors of the Alliance of Manufacturers and Exporters Canada. Halifax-based Navitrak International Corp. has made several changes to its management team and board of directors in preparation for product commercialization. Joel Strickland has been named CEO, Adam Wolinski has been promoted to senior director of technology applications and Ping Chen has been promoted to the newly created position of senior manager of airborne products. As well, Anthony Meyer has been appointed chair of the board of directors. In conjunction with these management changes, Rick MacDonald has resigned as president and Mike Oliver, COO, has left the company. Pat Ryan and Anthony Von Bommel have also resigned from the board. Eric Vigouroux of the lobby firm Explorer Global has been retained by Air TV to create a buzz about the New York-based firm, so that Canadian companies consider investing in the Air TV program. Neil Wilson has been named VP, general counsel and corporate secretary of Nav Canada. Most recently with Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP, he has experience in a wide variety of transactions and litigation. Wilson was called to the Ontario bar in 1986.
