Bell Mobility to bring SEGA games to devices
Bell Mobility plans to offer its subscribers Sega games through an agreement it signed with the Sega Mobile division of Sega.com Inc. Bell’s subscribers will soon have access to popular wireless games from Sega such as Monkey Ball, Soccer Slam and Fast Lane. The games will be available on Java-enabled handsets. These titles, among others, will be the first in a series of new Java games, which will be available early in 2003. Wireless gaming continues to show significant promise as In-Stat/MDR projects that the value of the wireless gaming industry will reach approximately US$2.8 billion worldwide. In other Bell news, Bell Mobility Investments has invested $750,000 in two companies. Granby QC-based NERTEC Design Inc. will receive $500,000 to develop a real-time automated meter reading service. The wealth management division of Sanchez Computer Associates will get an infusion of $250,000 to develop wireless applications. Additionally, Bell and Sprint have announced a collaboration agreement under which the two companies will make further advancements to CDMA2000 capabilities. The agreement is expected to help in the development and marketing of newer handsets, applications and services. "This is a tremendous opportunity to accelerate the range of applications possible on CDMA2000 technology and ensure that these applications are available to customers wherever they go across North America," Almis Ledas, VP corporate development of Bell Mobility, said in a news release.
