George Cooney has joined BCE Capital as a venture advisor. He will be based in Boston, responsible for expanding the venture capital firm’s Northeast operations by partnering and investing in companies in that region. BCE Capital has already invested in Bridgeport Networks, Ellacoya and Millennial Net – three companies located in the Boston technology corridor. Prior to joining the company Cooney co-founded InfoClarus, a wireless application platform developer. There, he launched a smartphone messaging platform and an enterprise mobility applications development platform. Cooney saw the company through two rounds of financing, two major acquisitions and several strategic partnerships. Previously, he held positions at Nortel Networks and GTE Telenet.
