Nortel, NDS unite for IPTV project

Nortel Networks Corp. recently signed a global reseller and joint marketing agreement with NDS, a supplier of digital technology and services to pay-TV operators and providers, for a European IPTV project. It will involve the integration of Nortel’s voice and multimedia features into NDS’ MediaHighway middleware, thus encouraging the convergence of entertainment and communications. "We chose NDS because it is a leader in the digital broadcast industry," said Nortel’s chief strategy officer George Riedel. With this project, the companies hope to create one of the most advanced and feature-rich middleware products in the television distribution industry.
