MediaFlo demoed on third-party device and application
Brief | April 19, 2007
In a move that is considered a major boost to MediaFlo, Qualcomm's mobile broadcast TV technology, the company has demonstrated in conjunction with PacketVideo that the technology can be deployed on a third-party device and third-party application. The initiative was demonstrated on a Linux-based, non-cellular reference device designed by PacketVideo, featuring PacketVideo's multimedia players, decoder and program application guide. "It's important for the broadcast world to see that MediaFlo technology is an evolving, open platform that can be ported to other device platforms to support a variety of applications," PacketVideo president and CEO James Brailean said in a news release. "We're optimistic about the momentum behind the MediaFlo standard because it offers more platform options to our mobile operator customers."
