RTNDA announces Gzowski award
Brief | October 19, 2007
The Association of Electronic Journalists has announced the RTNDA Canada Award for Best Radio News Information Program will be named the Peter Gzowski Award in honour of the late Morningside host. Gzowski, who also at 28 became the youngest ever managing editor of Maclean's magazine, is estimated to have conducted some 27,000 interviews in 15 years as host of the CBC Radio program. He was also named Companion of the Order of Canada and appointed chancellor of Trent University. The Gzowski award will be awarded to the station that displays overall excellence in content and presentation in a regularly scheduled news information program, which is not a daily newscast. "Gzowski exemplifies the very best in Canadian Journalism," said RTNDA Canada President Bob McLaughlin in a press release. "We are honoured to pay tribute to his life's work with this award."
