CBC completes international distribution deal
Brief | April 10, 2008
The CBC has completed its transaction with ContentFilm plce for the international distribution rights to its program catalogue, which includes approximately 136 active titles comprising 1,000 hours of programming and a potential additional 1,000 hours related to other titles. As part of the transaction, CBC receives profit participation on gross receipts arising from sales. "As we have said from the beginning, ContentFilm is among the best-known and most respected organizations of its kind in the world, with extensive international reach and sales capability" said CBC spokesperson Jeff Keay. "This agreement represents a significant win for the CBC, for Canadian taxpayers and for the producers, actors and others who have a stake in the programming, which will now have an opportunity for greater exposure and sales internationally."
