Telus’s application to reclassify small ILECs for NG911 service 5 years too late, harms public: ITPA

The Independent Telecommunications Providers Association (ITPA) is arguing to the CRTC that an application by Telus Corp.  to reclassify small incumbent local exchange carriers (SILECs)  as originating network providers (ONPs) within its next-generation 911 (NG911) ecosystem is “five years too late” because negotiations have already begun, it will harm the public interest, and “make a mockery” of the commission’s processes.
