CRTC grants Cogeco five new speed tiers

In a Monday decision, the CRTC approved five new disaggregated Ethernet passive optical network (EPON)/fibre to the home (FTTH) speed tiers for Cogeco Inc. In the same decision, the commission denied Cogeco’s destandardization of its 6 Megabits per second (Mbps) and 40 Mbps aggregated and disaggregated third party internet access (TPIA) service and also denied speed band reformatting for aggregated and disaggregated hybrid-fibre coaxial (HFC) and radio frequency over glass (RFoG)/FTTH TPIA services.
