CBC, CRTC still viewed as keepers of Canadian identity: study

CBC allowed to exclude Olympic coverage from Canadian programming expenditures

The CRTC has agreed with CBC/Radio-Canada that it may exclude its spending on coverage of the Summer Olympic Games from its record of programming expenditures. The amount the broadcaster spends on such “Canadian programming expenditures” (CPE) is used to calculate its required spending on programs of national interest (PNI). The Games begin Friday in Paris.
